The UK Government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) can provide a £7,500 grant to cover part of the cost of replacing a fossil fuel heating system with an air source heat pump. The scheme is open to domestic and non-domestic properties in England and Wales.
The scheme is designed to minimise the amount of work property owners need to do. It is ‘installer-led’ which means installers will make a BUS application on your behalf, liaise with Ofgem on matters related to the scheme, tell Ofgem when they’ve installed your heating system and claim the money from Ofgem at the end of the project. The grant value should be deducted from any quote upfront and installers are responsible for passing on the discount that the BUS grant provides to property owners. You can find out more about the Boiler Upgrade Scheme here.
Global Energy Systems offer technical surveys to establish the eligibility of your property, run cost and carbon savings as well as capital costs.

Salix Finance is the delivery body for the Government’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme and the Low Carbon Skills Fund. They can provide grant funding to public sector organisations for heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from public sector buildings. Salix also works with the Scottish and Welsh devolved administrations, delivering financial support and loan schemes.
The funding schemes are dedicated to enabling the public sector to reduce their carbon emissions in line with the UK Government’s commitment to become net-zero by 2050. The schemes provide funding to enable the delivery of capital energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation projects within public sector non-domestic buildings, including central government departments and non-departmental public bodies in England.
Salix Finance is wholly owned by the Government and operates as a Non-Departmental Public Body, under the sponsorship of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (formerly the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy).
